Sometimes, things work out exactly how they were meant to. Last year when our honeymoon to Hawaii was canceled, along with our wedding and my bachelorette, I was devastated. This year when we rebooked the trip, I was hesitant to get excited but as it got closer and closer I realized our dream of going to Hawaii was coming true! We got to celebrate our marriage, our first anniversary, and our delayed wedding reception in the most beautiful place on earth.
MAUI
STAY – Hyatt Regency – We loved this resort. The location is great and the staff was so nice and helpful. This felt more like a classic resort with many restaurants and lots of families.
EAT
Lahaina Fish Co. – Fresh fish and a great view!
The Banyan Tree – Pricier but really delicious! Be sure to walk down to the point before dinner and catch a sunset.
Paia Fish Market – Go here after Road to Hana. Really relaxed but yummy place!
Paia Picnic Co – Great for food before you leave for the Road to Hana.
Ululani’s Shave Ice – Across the street from Paia Fish Market in Paia. Get the coconut ice cream!
Food trucks – We tried a bunch of different food trucks and had a great experience at all of them.
DO
Download The Gypsy Guide for Maui – This is a must! This app just works on your phone’s location services and plays helpful and interesting info as you drive around. Super helpful for Road to Hana, too!
Snorkel – We went on the Four Winds Boat and had a great experience. We also snorkeled at Ulua Beach, Slaughter House Beach, and Black Rock Beach
Road to Hana – Our favorite stops were Garden of Eden, Wailua Falls, and The Pools at ‘Ohe;o (The falls and pools are technically past Hana).
Explore the Beaches – Our favorites were Ulua Beach, Slaughter House Beach, DT Fleming Beach, Makena Beach, and Black Rock Beach.
KAUAI
Stay – Koa’ Kea Resort – We also loved it here – this hotel had a very relaxing and mature atmosphere. Fewer families and more couples our age!
EAT
Kountry Kitchen – My friend, Holly, reccomended this place and it was delicious. Get the coconut syrup!
Red Salt – This restaurant is inside the Koa’ Kea Resort. We ate here for dinner one night (out by the pool) and also got lunch a few times! Definitely pricier but really good.
Little Fish Poipu – We went her for breakfast almost everyday! Great coffee and bagels but get here early because there is always a line.
Duke’s Kauai – Nearby the airport with yummy food and cocktails.
DO
Download Gypsy Guide for Kauai – This app just works on your phone’s location services and plays helpful and interesting info as you drive around.
Visit Waimea Canyon State Park – So many gorgeous look outs and places to explore.
Boat Tour of Napali Coast – This was so fun! We went with Kauai Sea Tours and the staff was so nice. If you get seasick, though, I wouldn’t recommend because the sea gets rough. It was so much fun, though, and SO beautiful!
Lydgate Farm Chocolate Tour – Hawaii is the only state in the US that can grow Cocoa Beans. This tour is really fun and also really delicious because you get to try a bunch of different exotic fruits and chocolates!
