I’ve been tossing around the idea for a while to start blogging more of my personal life and this month, it finally feels like the right time. If you’ve been follow along on instagram over the past few months, you know that they have been challenging, but also really rewarding. Every day without Jack feels really unfair and I still struggle to feel like its even real. On the other end of the spectrum, I feel like I’m coming into who I am and am so grateful to be finding that person. I’m excited to start sharing a little peek into my personal life and some of my favorite things each month.
Springtime. While I can’t say spring is totally here, the glimpses we’ve had have made me so so excited to get outside more. This has felt like a LONG winter so I’m happy it’s almost over. Last weekend, I decided to re-pot almost all of my houseplants to give a few of them a little more room. In the past few years, I’ve slowly gotten into having more plants and finally feel like I’m adequate at keeping them alive. Definitely not perfect (RIP airplant), but a few of them that are over a year old. The added greenery freshens up my space and I get so excited when I see a new leaf budding. This year I’m pushing myself to do a little creative video each month so I decided to film the process and make a little instagram video out of it! You can see my February video here.
Maren Morris’ new album, GIRL. I’m not sure why it took me so long to get on the Maren Morris train but after I heard this interview, I was officially hooked. I’ve been playing the album on repeat. My favorite songs are A Song For Everything and Good Women.

Early Mountain Winery. Max and I first checked this winery out when we stayed at a Getaway House at the end of February. We LOVED our experience (and the wine, obviously) so we came back for their Oyster Fest the first weekend in March with sister Emily, brother-in-law Pat, my cousin Billy, his fiancé Carrie, and my parents. We had the best time and got to spend a fun weekend together! I’m so grateful this gorgeous place is only 45 minutes from my parent’s lake house!
The Miller’s wedding film. Kelly + Michael’s wedding day was one of my favorites of 2018 and it was so much fun to share. There is just something about a perfect pastel sunset that makes it feel like it’s all meant to be! See my favorite clip here.
Harry Potter. I know, I know, I’m pretty late to the party on this one. Last Fall, I needed a book that was easy to read and took my mind off everything that was going on so I started reading the first Harry Potter book. Immediately, I was HOOKED! I just finished the sixth book and I’m dying to read the seventh, but will be SO sad when it’s over. I’ve only seen bits and pieces of the movies so I’m really excited to get to watch all of them now. I don’t know about you but I feel like seeing the movie first can ruin the books so I’m glad I’m waiting until I’m officially done all of the books before I start on the movies. P.S. If you’re like me and still haven’t read them, I’ve been able to get all of the books for free on Kindle! Worth checking out if you’re interested in reading them.

The Lake House. I know I sort of mentioned it before, but I’m so grateful for that place. Max and I’ve been at the lake a lot this month to help install new sliding glass doors with my Dad. My parents work so hard on making it a beautiful, happy place and I’m so lucky. It’s the perfect retreat from the craziness of the D.C. area and I love that we have a little routine there. Some of my very favorite memories have happened on the deck while eating dinner as the sun sets over the lake. It’s like a dream.
Thanks so much for reading! I’m excited to start writing these posts each month and I think they will be fun to look back on in the future.
Xo,
Carla
